Taylor Carey Blog week 7

I started the week by completing the How to Win Award course, which provided insight into how businesses can approach awards strategically. I learnt that building a library of facts and achievements make it easier for the award entry process. Having this information organised makes it clearer to find the right evidence, rather than trying to remember everything last minute. Another lesson was that businesses should be selective about the awards they enter. Choosing awards that are relevant to the business, where there is a realistic chance of success and where winning could create valuable opportunities is much more effective than simply entering as many as possible. Another takeaway was the importance of making noise when you are successful. Winning an award is an achievement worth celebrating, but promoting that success can also increase visibility, credibility and future opportunities.
I completed the Triumphant Tender Documents Live Seminar, which continued to develop the knowledge I have gained from previous bid and tender courses. One of the key lessons was the importance of researching your clients and understanding their specific needs before beginning a tender. Rather than focusing solely on what your own business can offer, it is important to consider the tender from the client’s perspective and demonstrate how your solution addresses their priorities and challenges. I also learnt that word and page counts are important indicators of the level of detail required in each response. These lessons have helped me understand that successful tender writing is not simply about describing a business, but about creating a focused response that directly answers the client’s requirements.
Another highlight was revisiting the Market Yourself to Recovery and Magnificent Marketing topics through Zoom webinars. Having previously completed the courses, the webinars allowed me to explore the subjects in much greater depth and develop a stronger understanding of the ideas behind them.
Alongside my learning, I continued developing my creative skills by creating presentations from a series of graphics I had previously designed. I also created videos showcasing the graphics, giving me experience in presenting visual content in a different format. This helped me understand how the same creative work can be adapted for different occasions.
This week has also been a little different, as I will receive my GCSE results on Thursday 20th August, meaning my working week has finished earlier than normal. Even though this week was shorter, I have continued to build my knowledge. Every experience is helping me develop a broader understanding of marketing and the many opportunities within the industry.

Editor – Congratulations to Taylor who aced her GCSE’s – very well done from all at Purpol!
