Taylor Carey – Blog for week 3

This week at Purpol Marketing has had a strong focus on creative projects, branding and learning different perspectives. Every task reminded me that effective marketing is about much more than creating visually appealing content but also the importance of clear communication and consistency.

One of the main projects this week was designing a series of testimonial graphic templates. I had to carefully consider which template was the most aesthetically pleasing and the most accessible to be able to be read with different technology and reading skills. This encouraged me to think about fonts, spacing, colours and overall layout. This ensured that the final design aligned with Purpol Marketing as a brand while remaining engaging. Once the template and design had been selected, I used it to create personalised testimonial graphics for a large number of individuals to be put onto the Purpol website. Producing multiple graphics while maintaining consistency made me consciously think about the key details and pay attention to spacing and layout. Making the testimonials made me appreciate how strong the Marketing community can be. Many people went out of their way to express their gratitude and I have a lot of respect for those people.

Another highlight of the week was completing the ‘Market Yourself, Build Your Brand Live Seminar’ course. The course emphasised the importance of developing a strong, personal brand that differentiates your brand from the competing brands in the same sector. What surprised me was sometimes opposing businesses don’t necessarily sell the same product or service, it

could also be the businesses that take up the same time. Such as a business that sells beautiful bouquets for a wedding and a business that makes personalised posters for big events. By successful marketing, businesses can express their niche clearly and that is a strength that more businesses need to gain.

As I continued creating the personalised book testimonial graphics, I also experienced an important part of the creative process: feedback. After reviewing my template, I made improvements to increase readability and ensure it reflected the Purpol Marketing brand more effectively by adding gold accents paired with the original purple. This experience reminded me that feedback is not about criticism but about refinement to create the best version. Even small adjustments to spacing, fonts and layout can significantly improve the overall impact of a design.

This week also introduced to the benefits of Canva Premium, having upgraded from the free version. Exploring the additional features opened up more creative possibilities and tools to improve my work. Having access to these resources has not only made the design process more efficient and less time-consuming, but also encouraged me to experiment with different tools to develop my creative skills.

Looking back on my third week, I am continuing to build confidence in creative and strategic aspects of marketing.
