Taylor Carey – Blog week 2
Continuing my journey in Purpol Marketing, I have gained insightful knowledge of bidding while further developing my creative skills in Canva.
I completed the Better Way to Bid course. This training provided me with a much deeper understanding of the bidding process and the standards that organisations must follow when preparing and submitting their bids. I obtained valuable knowledge into the regulations, compliance requirements and best practices that help ensure fairness and quality throughout the procurement process. I have not had any experience or knowledge in the bidding process previously; completing the course has broadened my understanding of how marketing supports business growth and how important well-structured, compliant bids are in securing new opportunities. It became clear to me that successful bids are much more than persuasive writing, they require careful planning and thorough understanding of client expectations. It surprised me how many regulations can change so easily due to events such as Covid and Brexit. The course has given me a greater appreciation of the strategic side of marketing and how it contributes to an organisation’s long-term success.
Alongside developing my knowledge, I contributed to a creative project. I created personalised graphics for roughly 110 individuals using two different design templates that I have created previously, to support the upcoming launch of WINNER in September. This project required patience, research skills and consistency. It was rewarding to see everyone who has contributed to the new book and highlighted the importance of community involvement in this sector. It was interesting to see how creative design can play such an important role in building excitement and engagement. Working on many personalised graphics also strengthened my organisational skills.
Another valuable learning experience this week was exploring WeTransfer as a tool for sharing files more efficiently. As marketing often involves working with large graphics, I discovered how WeTransfer simplifies the process of securely transferring files that would otherwise be difficult and time consuming to share via email. Learning about new tools like this not only improves productivity but also shows how useful the right technology can be.
Reflecting on my second week, I am beginning to see the variation in the marketing industry. From understanding procurement and compliance through training, to creating visual content and learning new tools, every task is helping me build a broader skill set. Every project provides an opportunity to learn something new. I am excited to continue building my knowledge, taking on new responsibilities and seeing how each week adds to my experience. I look forward to continuing my journey and embracing the opportunities that are yet to come.
